Who we are

GP Prep is an independent GP examination preparation and medical education service run by Dr Inaam Mian and Dr Sakeriya Farah. They decide how and why your personal information is used. To contact us about your data, email gpprepacademy@gmail.com. Please do not post personal details in the WhatsApp community.

Information we collect

When you submit the registration form we collect: your full name, email address, WhatsApp/phone number, GP training stage, deanery or region, planned SCA date (or that it is not yet booked), whether it is a first attempt or resit, your biggest SCA preparation challenge, your interest in future mock consultations, and your marketing choice. We also record the time of registration, a registration ID, and payment and email delivery status. Payment card details are entered on Stripe’s page; we never see or store them. We receive from Stripe a checkout session reference, payment reference and payment status.

Why we use it

• To provide the masterclass (contract): to process your registration and payment, confirm payment, and email your private joining instructions and event details.
• To run and protect the service (legitimate interests): to prevent duplicate or fraudulent registrations, resolve payment or email problems, keep accounting records, and understand what trainees need so we can tailor the session.
• To send you marketing (consent): only if you tick the optional marketing box.

Unpaid registrations

Your details are saved when you submit the form, before you are sent to Stripe. If you abandon or do not complete payment, your record is kept with an unpaid status. We use it to deal with payment problems and to see that someone started registering. We do not send you promotional emails because of an unpaid registration unless you ticked the marketing box. We do not send you joining instructions unless payment has been verified.

Marketing choices and withdrawal

The marketing checkbox is optional, unticked by default and separate from these terms. If you tick it, we may email you free SCA preparation tips, upcoming masterclasses, mock consultation opportunities and GP Prep updates. We record that you opted in, the date and time, and the version of the notice you saw. You can withdraw consent at any time by using the personal unsubscribe link that every promotional email will include, or by emailing gpprepacademy@gmail.com. Only new, explicit consent given using this notice makes you eligible for marketing; earlier unticked or unrecorded choices do not. Withdrawing does not affect your registration or access to the masterclass, and we keep a record that you opted out so we do not email you again. Joining the WhatsApp community is separate, governed by WhatsApp, and you can leave it at any time.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to operate GP Prep: Stripe (payments), our hosting and database provider, an email delivery service (confirmation emails), Google (a private Google Sheet used for registration reporting, restricted to GP Prep), and Google Meet (to deliver the session). They process data on our behalf or as independent controllers for their own purposes (for example Stripe for fraud prevention). Some may process data outside the UK; where they do we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or adequacy arrangements. We do not sell your data.

How long we keep it

Registration and payment records are kept for as long as needed to run the event and handle queries, and for the period required for accounting and legal purposes. Marketing contacts are kept until you withdraw consent, after which only a minimal suppression record is kept. Unpaid registration records that are not marketing opted-in are not kept for promotion and will be deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period after the event. You can ask us to delete your data earlier.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, objection to processing based on legitimate interests, and portability. You can withdraw consent at any time. Email gpprepacademy@gmail.com and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

This website does not use advertising cookies. Stripe may set cookies on its own checkout page.
